It's definitely not something to read if you aren't already familiar with a lot of her books.

Karen - I've replied to your email. Thank you so much. I've never read Jane Eyre so this will definitely be the carrot to get me to do so.Falaisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01296217731383114462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069628911357973492.post-16347851466923004602011-08-29T10:00:05.008+01:002011-08-29T10:00:05.008+01:00Hi,

I love Poirot too and I'm not much of a Miss Marple fan (although I am sure I will read the rest of those one day). I will probably pick up this book but will leave off reading it until I've read more Christie.KarenSihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17875454663363953921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3069628911357973492.post-69277447976670985222011-08-19T15:02:37.695+01:002011-08-19T15:02:37.695+01:00A long time ago, I used to read the New York Times...A long time ago, I used to read the New York Times Book Review in the Sunday edition. Very often I would find the review to be just enough about a book - that I didn't need to read the whole book after reading the review. And this is just how I feel after reading this excellent post. You've told me enough about the book to show me I don't need to read it. I am not a snide critic. I pretty much think she was remarkable, one of a kind, etc. But this book has more information than I need. I think it's great he wrote it. I think it is a terrific scholarly work, but not for me. I have a couple titles you might enjoy which are more low-brow and which offer a fun accompaniment to her books. One is The Bedside, Bathtub & Armchair Companion to Agatha Christie and the other is Agatha Christie: A Reader's Companion. Also, if you are interested, there's an ongoing Agatha Christie Reading Challenge going on.
